Postponement announcement

May 31, 2021

Dear friends and colleagues,

Kindly be informed that the 14th International Conference on Thai Studies
will be postponed due to travel restrictions and uncertainties regarding the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
The conference was originally planned to take place on December 10th-12th, 2021 but it will be postponed to the end of April 2022. For now, we assume that by April 2022, we will all be able to travel.
The venue of the conference in Kyoto remains unchanged.
We gratefully acknowledge that we had a 90% response rate to the survey we sent out earlier to prospective participants.
Out of all responses, 72% preferred to have the conference on-site on the April schedule, 9% preferred to have the conference online as scheduled in December, and 19% were fine with either of the timings and formats.
We found that many people placed importance on the quality of interaction that are accessible only at onsite conferences.

There was also a request to move the conference to a later date, but due to availability of the venue, we decided that the end of April was the most reasonable time to hold the conference onsite.

We know this is a very challenging time for everyone, and appreciate your understanding, patience, and continued support.
We look forward to seeing you in Kyoto, we wish you to stay safe and to take good care of yourself and of your families.

With our best Regards,
ICTS14 Conference Organizing Committee
